Aye, I'm downloading the ISOs to one of the servers now, will have it on the tracker later.

Thanks for the link.

I've not had much experience with FC, I have it on a server but I only ever access it over SSH, so not used it as a desktop soloution.

I think its facing strong competetion from arguably its main rival SuSE and the relatively new players like Ubuntu and MEPIS at the moment, but it still seems fairly popular. One thing I've noticed is that they seem to release major version increments pretty quickly, can't have been that long ago since FC2.... not that its a bad thing.

Nice one Matt.... I had a problem with the mirrors the other night so I only managed to get a couple of the ISO's, I've put all the torrents in ye olde curses.py so it should be grabbing them all now for seeding.

Let me know if / when we are going to do the DVD for this release.

Hi Entr0P,
It is difficult to give a clear answer answer to your question. However I could give you some facts about both.

Fedora
1) This is a project sponsered by Red Hat Linux (perhaps this status may change soon).
2) Releases are focused on offering bleeding edge applications rather than the stability.
3) Almost all the software packages work with Fedora.
4) Gnome is the default desktop environment.

Mandrake
1) Develop by a commercial enterprise.
2) If you want to have the latest then you have to pay a subscription.
3) Focus on stability rather than bleeding edge applications.
4) KDE is the default desktop environment.

Selecting one over the other is mostly depend on individual taste. If you try them both you would realize that they have more similarities than differences. If you want to know more I would suggest you to visit Distrowatch (http://distrowatch.com).

Hope this will help.
